New Orleans: "Proud To Call It Home" Exhibit is a 1,800 sq. ft. permanent exhibit with interactive activities for all ages that celebrates New Orleans' rich architectural and cultural history.  Also translated into Spanish, this exhibit is the perfect tool to give children a hands-on approach to learning a foreign language.

Learn how geography, climate and culture shaped our City's stunning architectural traditions.

 

  • Hands-On Construction: Be a plumber and run actual PVC pipe in a wall.  Or be an electrician and connect the right wires to make things work! 
  • City Planning and Architectural Design: Plan, draft and design using real tools, blueprints and a light table just like an architect.
  • New Orleans History: Explore the timeline that outlines the historical and cultural influences that impacted New Orleans' physical development.

"Proud To Call It Home" is the only permanent exhibit about New Orleans architecture.  This interactive display lets children explore the history and future of our distinctive city.

What not to miss:

• Miniature Jackson Square where children can ride Andrew Jackson's   horse, Duke


• Kid-size Shotgun house, Creole Cottage and an outdoor kitchen for role playing


• Find Earth-friendly "green" features in a house under construction.
