- Where can we park?
Parking is available in nearby lots at an approximate cost of $5. The closest parking lots are the Residence Inn and PK1 lots with entrances on St. Joseph Street. Street parking is also available at parking meters but don't forget your quarters. Each quarter will buy 12 minutes at the meter. City parking attendants are very diligent so please plan accordingly. On Saturday and Sunday, parking on the street at meters is FREE.
- How long does it take to see and experience the LCM?
Plan on at least a two-hour visit. With more than 100 hands-on exhibits, there's plenty for your family to explore and experience. Your admission is valid for the entire day. If you choose to leave the Museum for lunch or a nap and return the same day, simply present your LCM receipt to the cashier at the admission desk.
- Is there a special program that the Museum is offering today?
Every day we have book readings at Noon (Dr. Seuss) and 2:00 (Life Skills and Coping). We also have special art projects in Art Trek. Check our calendar of events for special programming. In addition, we offer free child psychologist consultations on Wednesdays 9:30 - 1:00, Thursdays 1:00 - 4:00, Saturdays 11:00 - 3:00
- Is there something at the LCM for my toddler to enjoy? Can we bring a stroller and where can we park it?
Every Thursday at 10AM we have Toddler Time in our First Adventures exhibit featuring a story, art project and music.
Our First Adventures exhibit offers an enclosed space
where our youngest visitors (0-3) play to learn. First Adventures includes
a reading and puzzle corner, a colorful maze, slide and tunnel, giant
building blocks, a pretend kitchen, and more. Strollers are welcome.
Lockers are available for a small rental fee to hold items you do not
wish to carry.
- Why do adults pay admission at a children's museum?
Grown-ups are important to the fun and learning that takes place at the LCM and are also responsible for the safety and supervision of their children. We encourage you to explore and experience our Museum with your children and are certain that you will "play" too.
- Once we've paid admission, can we come and go?
Sure. Simply hold on to your receipt and present it at the LCM admission
desk when you come and go throughout the day. Your receipt is valid
for re-entry for the same day only.
- Does the LCM offer a membership or annual pass?
Yes. In fact, our memberships are a great value and will pay for themselves in just two visits. The more you visit, the more you'll save. You can either purchase a membership when you arrive or save your receipt and apply your admission fees to the purchase of a membership before you leave for the day (valid on the day of your visit only).
As a member, your family will enjoy:
- Can my sitter/caregiver use my card to bring my children?
If you have purchased the "Caregiver Benefit"($10 fee) for
your membership, an authorized sitter or caregiver may accompany your
child(ren) but must present the following at the time of their visit:
- Your membership card
- A signed note authorizing the named caregiver/sitter
to use your card.
- His/her's photo I.D. or drivers license for verification.
- Do you offer discount admission coupons?
Look for discount admission coupons in the Entertainment Guide, KidCents coupon book, Kids'
Directory, Riverwalk Big Easy Shopping Spree coupon book and Oakwood
Shopping Center coupon book. Plus, if you are a Sav-A-Center Bonus Reward
Card member, simply present your card (or key tag) for $1 off admission
for up to six visitors. Discount or free admission offers are valid
yearround with the exception of New Year's Eve.
- Do you have a café or a place to eat in the LCM?
A vending area features juice, water, soft drinks and snacks.
- Where can we go to grab a bite?
There are a number of family friendly restaurants within walking distance and a food court at the Riverwalk Marketplace.
- What else can we do in neighborhood with children?
The Warehouse Arts District is bustling with many Museums within a two
block radius. You may consider a visit to the National WWII Museum
(Andrew Higgins Boulevard at the corner of Magazine Street), the Ogden
Museum of Southern Art (Camp Street) and the Contemporary
Arts Center (Camp Street). Also, the Aquarium of the Americas is located
